Happy Nevada Reading Week! Students and staff will be participating in a variety of activities and events all week long to celebrate the joy of reading. If you haven't already, please scroll down to see the schedule of themed days and fun activities that will be taking place throughout this week.
A number of years ago, one of our beloved Mack teachers, Cindi Turner, was killed in a terrible car accident, caused by a drunk driver. The Mack Community pledged to keep her loving spirit alive through a memorial scholarship which we named the Nate Mack/Cindi Turner Scholarship. This $1000 award is given to a former Nate Mack student who is now a high school senior, to defer the costs of their first year in college. Throughout this week, our staff will be working to raise money for this cause and our own Mr. Hayden, who teaches fourth grade, has made the pledge to go the extra mile! Starting Monday, Feb. 29, students will be encouraged to pay a buck for a bow, then help Mr. Hayden fix his long hair into the day's new style. Each day a different group will participate: Monday is kindergarten and first grade students, Tuesday is second graders, Wednesday will be third graders, Thursday fourth graders and Friday will be fifth grade. Then at the Pajama Dance on Friday, students can contribute a dollar to help give Mr. Hayden a haircut. Of course, all money raised this week will go towards the Nate Mack/Cindi Turner scholarship for a deserving graduating senior who went to Nate Mack. We hope a lot of current Mountain Lions will help this cause and have some fun throughout the week!
