I hope you and your family enjoyed Martin Luther King, Jr. Day together yesterday! One of my favorite quotes from the late Dr. King is "The time is always right to do what is right." Our school enjoys partnering with you to help students grow, not only intellectually, but also ethically and morally. This is a responsibility we take very seriously and through our "Be Kind" and "No Place for Hate" initiatives we strive to guide youngsters to make good choices and stamp out bullying.
Today begins the second semester of the year. Our students "re-set" any citations back to zero, giving them a clean slate and a chance to show they can do what is right each day. Because our Nevada Academic Content Standards are year-long goals for mastery, students' grades will continue to show their progress toward meeting standards by June. Look for students' report cards to come home on Friday. Please review your child's progress together and sign the report card envelope. The envelope should be returned to school, empty, next Monday Students will receive a Mack dollar for returning their envelope on time.
Students have saved and spent lots of Mack Money this year! Today is Mack Money Privilege Day and many students have paid Mack Money to have special opportunities throughout the school. These privileges range from working in the front office to being the assistant principal or the principal. Some students will enjoy helping in the lunchroom, helping a teacher, or even being the custodial assistant. If you have time this week, ask you child how much Mack Money they earned the first semester and how they spent it.
Have a great week!
